Clout St: Stimulus cash to give low-income Illinois parents child ...

Gov. Pat Quinn announced the changes today at a news conference at a Southwest Side child center. The money is a one-time infusion of cash, meaning the state will have to find money down the road to keep the benefits. But in the short term, it gives Quinn, who faces a primary election challenge Feb. 2, the political benefit of being able to say he’s expanding care for low-income families without tapping into already-strapped state funds.

The additional money will be used to lower co-payments by 15 percent for the 90,000 families enrolled in the state’s Child Care Assistance Program. Families are required to pay a portion of their income for child care, based on family size and the number of children receiving care. For example, a mother with two children making $36,000 a year will now pay $419 a month, down from $493 a month.

I wish I knew how to play the system. Somewhere along the line I missed that skill. All the state ever does for me is take increasingly large sums of money away. The roads around me are terrible but the traffic cameras are ready to go. No kids in school but a huge part of my huge property tax goes to schools. Killers get free room, board, and health care while I struggle to pay a mortgage and pay for health insurance. Life in Illinois is only good for those who play the system. I wish I knew the rules.

Okay, this is a one time infusion of money but in order to retain this program they will have to find the money somewhere down the line. What part of this State is broke don't these politicians understand. Illinois can't pay it's bills now and yet they put themselves out there to take on another program they know they can't afford. This is just insanity.

The poor knows kids are a cash cow, until the government stop handing out our money to everyone that ask for it, its not going to stop, and yes illegal immigrants who don't pay any taxes and take all the benefits are a huge part of the problem also. How about letting them fend for themselves, see how much more kids they will have if we cut off there free cash, health, etc.
